Ohio Department of Development to Skybus: “Give Us Back That Corporate Welfare!”
Published April 26th, 2008 @ 1:53 pm. Tags: ohio department of development, skybusLess than a year after its launch, Skybus Airlines, the Columbus-based discount airline, stopping flying in early April and filed for bankruptcy protection.
The Ohio Department of Development is looking to recover more than $1 million in grant money, used as incentives, to get Skybus started.A department official said the state Attorney General’s office will pursue the matter in bankruptcy court.
The great irony of the Ohio Department of Development is that Ohio’s economy would certainly be better off if Ohio’s tax burden was so low that the state couldn’t afford business grants or a “Department of Development” bureaucracy.
