Marc Dann’s Upcoming Press Conference

The Youngstown Vindicator reports that about a week from now, scandal-ridden Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann will hold a press conference to discuss the sexual harassment scandal. The Vindicator opines:

The woman alleged that she and Gutierrez had been out drinking when he got a call from Dann inviting him to the condo for pizza. Stankoski claimed that she also talked to the attorney general and said she wanted Hawaiian pizza.

When they got to the townhouse, Dann was there, as was his scheduler, Utovich, who was dressed casually — supposedly sweats.

What allegedly occurred later that night in the residence prompted Stankoski’s criminal complaint.

Stankoski says she wanted to lie down and Gutierrez told her she could use his bed. When she awoke hours later, she alleged, her pants were unbuttoned and Gutierrez was lying next to her wearing only his underwear.

The attorney general will have to address this issue — not only because it involves two of his employees, one of whom was impaired, but because his scheduler was also present that night.

Only full disclosure will satisfy reporters. Any ducking and weaving or refusal to answer questions because they involve his personal life will be taken as an admission of his having done something that puts the office of attorney general in a negative light.

At that point, Dann will have lost his effectiveness as the state’s chief lawyer because his credibility will be in tatters.

Demands for his resignation will become a tsunami.

Here it comes!

  1. 1 Skeptic

Has anyone else wondered why there was never any mention of releasing emails between Dann/Gutierrez, Dann/Jennings, Gutierrez/Jennings within the same time frame as the Dann/Utovich emails?

Hasn’t the question all along been Did Dann know???? and When did he know it???? as it relates to the September 10th incident and many other times these two women were harassed? I know that the Utovich/Dann emails were of interest to many to see if there was more than a boss/subordinate relationship between the two…most now think possibly/maybe/could be….etc., but the focus of this investigation should have been: Did Dann know and yet did nothing to protect these two woman. This question may have been answered by requesting (media) and releasing (AG’s office) emails between all three men.

Am I the only one that thinks this?

Skeptic - get a life and quit watching Oliver Stone films.

  3. 3 cynic

Deep down, Dann (and his friend Chris here) are happy that the criticism are all about sex and booze, and not about the lousy management ever since Dann took over.

  4. 4 Voice of Reason

Maybe Dann is announcing that he — with all of the other people whose names and reputations have been defamed these past couple of weeks — are suing Naugle, the Dayton Daily News, the Vindicator, and the other wanna-be reporters for defimation, slander, libel, and a whole host of other claims.

Maybe that will start encouraging responsible, respectable journalism in Ohio — as opposed to all of this crap we’ve been reading for weeks.

  5. 5 righty

Wow Voice of Reason– that could probably be viewed as reasonable by Marc Dann since he also thinks it is reasonable for his assistant to be hanging out at his place in her sweats (although I am guessing she did not have them on the WHOLE time). He thinks it is reasonable to hire his buddies and let them have fun on the taxpayer’s dime– whether it involves young female employees or state vehicles– I mean who cares right?

For the voice of reason, you sure sound like an involved party and not like the rest of Ohioans who want this disastor of an office holder thoroughly investigated, charged and replaced. It is sad that he is dragging everyone through the mud with him. Even if Dann did not know full details, he knew the character of the people he was hiring (since they are long time pals) and it is in no way respectable or acceptable for such a position in a state office.

Voice of Reason- have you not been reading the papers (even the Youngstown Vindicator is giving Dann a hard time) or watching tv? How is he or anyone else there being “slandered”?

How is Gutierrez being defamed? He’s not being defamed any more than Tom Noe. They both deserve scrutiny. Senator Dann championed open government and to fight “pay to play” politics, now it seems it is nothing more than words.

How is it slander when you are drunk and crash state vehicles and not report it? Any other state employee would have been fired for just that way before now.

It sounds like you are really Marc Dann writing under a pen name.

I guess if you work with someone now you can’t be friends out of work, and you defientley can’t wear anything thats not office friendly clothes. Bush appoints Gonzales, who lied about everything, but no one says let’s impeach Bush. It’s the same thing, he hired someone, and they screwed up, not Dann’s fault. He is not corrupt at all, and I’m going to say that he has done more for Ohians in his short time in office than Montgomery and Petro’s 12 years combined.

  8. 8 The Shadow

Yes, that’s right Weezy, Bush this Bush that. What do you mean no one says let’s impeach Bush? All we hear from you lib nuts is impeach Bush, imeach Bush try him for war crimes blahhh blaaahh blaaahh like a bunch of whiney bithces. You libs are Bushed obsessed. Let’s deflect shall we. And what exactly did Gonzales lie about? Ohhhhh that’s right…nothing. I mean, sure he never landed in a hot LZ while sniper fire came down around him but hey, who has?

Back to the actual topic of the thread, Dann did more than “hire” someone. It was his buddy from home who ended up crashing a state vehicle without reporting it, sexaully harassing a woman, etc.

We aren’t talking about impeaching Dann..we are talking about good government. In fact, I want Dann to stay in office. Taft screwed up and got what he deserved. None of you libs can ever fess up. Marc Dann is a disgrace. He was a loud mouth ass in the State Senate who could never get enough face time with the cameras, yelling about this and that. You are right though about him doing more for Ohioans than Betty and Jim in his short 16 months in office, he has managed to tarnish the AG’s office and turned it into a frat house and the subject of cartoon editorials.
