Another Rumor About the Dann Affair

Tags: marc dannA well placed source is now telling me that the rumor is Governor Strickland had his security detail look into Dann’s sexual relationship with Jessica back when I broke the story. Ted’s security detail confirmed it, and so now the question is- When did Ted Strickland know? It appears Strickland has been sitting on this story since late last year.

You pose an interesting situation if fleshed out:
1. Small question: what did Guv know and when did he know it?
2. Big question: is it legal for Guv to use state funds (security detail) to conduct private, political investigation on a top statewide officer to dig up dirt and presumably to use that dirt against the officer or for his own party’s or candidate purposes?
Using state money to launch investigations into a private sexual affair sounds like a misuse of funds. I don’t care if he wanted dirt to out Dann, use it against Dann, or prevent its use against his own administration or party. It’s private Partisan activity on the state’s dime.
