Gov. Strickland to Marc Dann: Resign Now!

Word on the street is, at 11:30am, Gov. Strickland will release the letter which he already sent to Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann calling for his resignation. More details coming soon…

I’m glad Strickland doesn’t think that Dann’s weak argument that admitting to an affair is enough punishment. Because if admitting to an affair was enough punishment, then Dann’s scheduler and lover Jessica Utovich should have certainly kept her job- After all, what punishment in Hell could be worse than seeing Marc Dann naked for extended periods of time?

Update @2pm: I was away from my computer when the release happened. It’s been on the Clear Channel radio updates throughout the day. Here is the actual letter. Thank you to my friend Andy for posting it in the comments:

We write to you tonight to ask that you resign your position as Attorney General of the State of Ohio.

We believe that your actions have irreparably harmed your ability to effectively serve the people of our great state.

The work of the Office of the Attorney General matters more, and is far more important, than any one person. In many, many cases it is all that stands between the people and the powerful. Sadly, we no longer have even the most remote hope that you can continue to effectively serve as Attorney General and that is why we are asking for your resignation.

We also want to make you aware that if you do not choose to resign, Democratic members of the Ohio House of Representatives will immediately introduce a resolution seeking your impeachment. We sincerely hope that this action will not be necessary and that you will act in the best interest of the people of Ohio by tendering your resignation Monday morning.

Sincerely,

Ted Strickland, Sherrod Brown, Lee Fisher, Jennifer Brunner, Ray Miller, Richard Cordray, Chris Redfern, Joyce Beatty

And here is the response AG Dann sent out to his staff:

All –

Last night, I received a call from Governor Strickland advising me that he and the other statewide Democratic office holders along with the minority leaders of the House and Senate were planning to ask me to resign today.

That letter has been sent.

I wanted to share with you what I told the Governor.

I told him that he and the other officeholders, as well as the members of the legislature, should continue to expect that we will continue to provide high-quality legal services to all of them. I told the Governor that we will continue to make our law enforcement partnerships work to protect the people of the State of Ohio.

I told him that our consumer protection and environmental protection and civil rights work will continue on behalf of the State of Ohio.

That is exactly what I am doing today. I am in the office, have rolled up my sleeves and am working on behalf of the people of State of Ohio.

I hope all of you will do the same.

I think that there is a great chance that we can continue to do great work for the people of the State.

I know that this is difficult, and I am truly sorry to have put all of you in this position.

But our work is too important to do anything but our jobs today.

Given some of the e-mails that were released, I wonder if Dann may have been cheating on Utovich as well? Recall that some of her e-mails to him, seemed to hint that she was jealous of someone else. Although it could have been Dann’s wife, could there have been a third woman involved?

    Bad guy,

Yeah, I think you are on to something,

    Read democrat comments;

“The Alpha”, Dann was using Gutierrez to pick up women for him. Gutierrez was hoping, Dann would toss him “the bones.” A loyal minion of Dann, Gutierrez knew he didn’t have a chance in hell of hooking up with Stankoski unless…..Dann had sex with her FIRST and rejected her into his lap afterwards.
Then Gutierrez would be there to conveniently pick up the pieces and help restore Stankoski’s self-worth. That was the plan, UNTIL Utovich showed up and “blocked” Dann.”

This Dion person - what a pig. From now on I’ll just have to skip over his/her comments and posts because they are appalling

  6. 6 Dion

    Skeptic,

My apologizes. I didn’t say I endorsed this behavior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it IS appalling isn’t it?

It’s obvious, you have never lived in a FRAT HOUSE or been on a Lacross team and seen jackasses practice this type of behavior TOWARD WOMEN.

Believe me I have SEEN pack behavior too many times in my life and, as for me, I will tell my daughter ALL about how men can act when there is no accountability, before I send her off to school.

If you have never lived in close quarters with men that act like this, you are truly fortunate.

I have not been so lucky, which is why I brought it up in the first place. College, sports teams and the military, have taught me well.

    Thanks,

    Dion

Dion - I owe you an apology - I thought you wrote those comments the way they were written, now I see that you were just copying them from another area where you provided a like to. The comments were written by: someone named Schmennis on Sun, 05/04/2008 - 6:47pm. - that’s the pig I was after. I’m sorry, I jumped the gun a little.

    NP, :)

I was just saying that THIS IS THE CULTURE in Dann’s office.

Check out the Dispatch today……I offer as evidence today…….

It wasn’t hard to find more examples of raunchy e-mails and behavior in the attorney general’s probe. For example, Urban had a tawdry electronic exchange with Gutierrez the evening of Nov. 26, after he learned her frequent companion, Jennings, was not around.

    Gutierrez: “want to get together”

    Urban: “Where are you drunkard?”

Gutierrez: “Don’t matter where I am where are we going to end up?”

Urban: “Ton, you are going to end up in your bed and I am going to end up in mine. Mine may or may not be empty depending on who we meeting up with.”

    Gutierrez: “Wrong answer.”

    Urban: “You are not Leo.”

    Gutierrez: “Better.”

Urban: “What makes you think that?”

Gutierrez: “You have to take a test drive to fine out. One drive you see for yourself. Money back offer.”

Urban: “You can’t do that to Leo. Not nice Ton.”
