Bill O’Neill is a Liar
Published June 27th, 2008 @ 2:29 pm. Tags: Bill O'NeillOn this press release from the Bill O’Neill campaign, it is claimed that today was a “bipartisan” press conference to support some silly commuter rail system in Northeast Ohio. And how can he claim it’s bipartisan? Because in addition to a slew of Democrat office holders, State Senator Tim Grendell was listed as part of the press conference. Here is a screen capture from his website:
And that would all be ok… EXCEPT for the fact that Tim Grendell does not support Bill O’Neill and had absolutely no plans to be at this press conference. In fact, all O’Neill’s campaign did was call Senator Grendell’s office with the date and time of this event. But no plans were made to have Grendell attend the press conference, nor would he have attended if asked.
I’m waiting for a response from the Grendell campaign and will post it immediately. Bill O’Neill should be ashamed of himself.
Update at 6:30pm- Here is an official statement from Tim’s campaign:
Hi Matt,
State Senator Tim Grendell was not in attendance at Judge Bill O’Neill’s press conference on June 27, 2008 at 10:00am in Willoughby, OH as Judge O’Neill’s Campaign Website claims. Senator Grendell whole-heartedly supports Congressman Steven LaTourette’s re-election efforts and recognizes his success as a member of the United States House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Thank you,
Jason E. Ziegler

Grendell for Good Government

He should also re embarrased that he supports that waste of money light rail that will never do anything except enrich a few politicans and their friends.
Well now isn’t this an interesting little site. As a retired Judge and a retired Army Officer naturally you can imagine my amusement when my Google search lit up with you worms calling me a liar. A simple call to my friend Senator Grendell would have told you that Tim and I spoke personally on Wednesday, and he assured me that he supports rail transport and would be at the news conference. Apparently somethig came up on Thursday and he had to cancel…but that is alright. Tim and I have been friends for over 20 years.
You folks should show at least a passing interest in the truth before you call someone a liar. As you know, I served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for defending our country. Surely you didn’t think you were going to get away with this…did you?
Warmest Personal Regards.

BOB BARR FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A TRUE CONSERVATIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There’s a big difference between saying someone supports light rail and that someone supports a candidate’s policy position.
And what does your service have to do with your veracity in this situation? I think it’s nothing more than a diversionary tactic to quiet criticism and deflect the fact that you attempted to make it appear as if Senator Grendell supported this press conference.
The best thing about your run for Congress is that it got you off the bench.
Wow. I respect and honor Mr. O’Neill service to our country. However, to use that as a way to end debate or deflict criticism is disappointing, but also typical of the Dems (see Kerry, Murtha, etc). One look at O’Neill’s policies will show that he is just another typical Dem:
Cut and run in Iraq (delivers a victory to the Islamists and futher destabilizes the region)
Anti free-trade (read Union parrot)
Gov’t HealthCare for all (reduction in free choice and rationing of services)
More money for schools (read higher taxes and pro Teacher’s Union)
Global Warming zealot (pro wind, solar, hybrids, etc., but nothing about nuclear energy or expanding domestic production of oil)

United Auto Workers
Ohio Federation of Teachers
United Food & Commerical Workers
Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers & Grain Millers
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
Office Professional Employees Union
United Mine Workers of America

Grindell for Good Government?!? You’re kidding me? Talk about a violation of “Truth in Advertising” laws.
Senator Grendell has been an advocate for good government throughout his tenure in the General Assembly. I don’t know what argument you could possibly have against his record… Pro-Business, Pro-Individual Rights, Pro-Family Values, must I go on?
