The Republicans Have an AG Candidate

James Nash of The Dispatch broke the story here. His name is D. Michael Crites, a federal prosecutor under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.
CritesforOhio.com was registered on July 16, 2008 at 10:17am.

James Nash’s and Alan Johnson’s article in this mornings Dispatch shows that this story seems to never end:
The two women whose sexual-harassment complaints ballooned into a scandal that forced out former Attorney General Marc Dann and many of his top lieutenants are being accused of creating a hostile workplace themselves.
Vanessa Stout and Cindy Stankoski are [...]

First of all, multiple sources have confirmed that the Republican candidate won’t be Justice O’Connor.
Secondly, a number of Republican insiders can’t imagine that the Ohio GOP’s screening committee could possibly pick a candidate today.
And third, things have gotten so bad for the Ohio Republican Party that the independent/Libertarian/Constitution Party/John Birch Society Candidate Robert Owens has [...]

I’m trying to confirm some major rumors about a shakeup in who will be the Ohio Republican Attorney General candidate. Stay tuned…
update: Joe Hallett confirms the rumor I heard this morning that Dave Yost is out of the running.
Update #2: Who will be the AG candidate for the GOP? My bet is Justice Maureen O’Connor. [...]

One Million Dollars!

It was Marc Dann, a Democrat and mediocre divorce attorney who Gov. Strickland proudly endorsed in 2006, who created an environment where middle-aged dirt bags, foul-mouthed idiots, perjurers, killers, double-dipping policemen, and bimbos could run wild in the office of Ohio’s chief law enforcement officer. This $1 million dollars is just some of [...]

As you may know, I’m hardly a Tim Russo fan, but he posted a rumor today that has been flying around Columbus this morning. And I think it’s true.
That’s right…. Betty Montgomery, former Ohio Attorney General and Ohio Auditor, who lost in 2006 to Marc Dann, is very interested in running for Attorney General.
It looks [...]

This morning at 9:30 am, Gov. Ted Strickland will hold a press conference outside the Ohio State House to announce to lawyers who want special counsel contracts from the Attorney General’s Office better damn well donate to Rich Cordray.

As James Nash on The Columbus Dispatch’s blog mentioned, he and I were the only two people watching Robert Owens press conference today at the statehouse to announce his intension to come in atleast 3rd place in the Ohio Attorney General election to replace disgraced former AG Marc Dann. The low turnout might have something [...]

From Old Man Joe:
With a week to go before the Ohio Republican Party vets potential replacements for disgraced former Democratic Attorney General Marc Dann, three more top-tier candidates have signaled they don’t plan to run.
Former U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine and Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said yesterday they don’t intend to screen to be the [...]

Jack Boyle on the Ohio AG Office

Jack Boyle, the Ohio director of Americans for Prosperity, wrote an excellent column in The Columbus Dispatch about what reforms should happen to prevent a future Attorney General being as corrupt as Marc Dann. Here is the core of his reasonable suggestions:
The way in which the attorney general awards special-counsel contracts must be brought into [...]
